Per audio minute rate
Sydney Transcription Services will provide you with a flat per audio minute rate upfront so you know
exactly what your transcription is going to cost. There are different rate
levels for different types of transcripts. Variables include:
- Level of verbatim required
- Number of speakers
- Will speakers need to be identified?
- Amount of special terminology, acronyms or unfamiliar names (it helps
greatly if you can provide us with a list of these)
- Do the speakers have heavy accents?
- Level of background noise
- Overall sound quality
- Special requests, such as insertion of time codes or peculiar formatting
Collapsed line rate
Alternatively, Sydney Transcription Services will quote a collapsed line rate based on the industry
standard of 65 characters per line. With the collapsed line rate a total cost
cannot be given upfront.
The collapsed line total is worked out at completion of the transcript by
taking the total number of characters in the document and dividing by 65, giving
you the total line count. The number of lines is then multiplied by the
appropriate line rate. Again, there are different rates for different types of
transcripts (see variables above).
This billing method can work out to be more cost-effective, for example, with
a focus group transcript where the moderator’s comments are not required to be
transcribed in their entirety, or where there are long pauses during the
recording.
Neither of these billing methods is affected by the speed or skill of the
typist, giving you pricing consistency and transparency.
